Myth and Faith - 19

Myth: Simple interests of mankind are not sins. There is no need of redemption to man, if he lead good and simple life without doing any harm to anyone or to the society.

Faith: Human nature is so wired with sin, that natural human tendencies turn out to be dangerous sins.

Such sins ultimately create problems in ones life. and since every individual is the basic unit of the society, the society is made unhealthy by this very nature. It is very difficult or almost impossible to control this indefinite nature of sin, in every single individual. Thus each single individual needs to be redeemed, so that he may have everlasting life and also the effects of sin would'nt disturb the peace of the society.

To understand this, let us consider the examples of simple sins like love/longing for something like goods/money. when a person is a child he longs to have toys all to himself doesnt want to share with anyone. This attribute generally we take it for granted very much and consider but normal. But the same can lead to  keeping things to himself (being selfish) and also coveting others things. Subsequently, child does tantrums with parents, if parent can afford well and good, if not child starts to develop envy(may not be seen or recognised too) to those who have it or steals it from them. then it leads to habit of stealing. Stealing does not always stop there, it leads to lying and trying to cover up. It may also happen, when exposed, the person may turn savage on who exposes them. But by the time the person is exposed, damage already done, social image of the person deteriorates, and the person is referred to as a thief at every instance later on, and will be judged on this previous history, and may not stand a chance to live but normal life. People who return to normacly will still be there but, the base line has been shifted already.

Let us consider the character of lust in the days of youth. It is considered as boys longing for girls and vice versa and falling in love as common to that age. But if out of lust they search for love in other ways, it leads to physical damage (pregnancy in girls) and loss of purpose (concentration drifiting away from normal goals and purpose of life, leading to settling at smaller level for boys). Now if marriage is looked at as a solution for this lust, what if the love/sexual needs are unmet in marriage? If married men and women practice/look for love outside marriage, it destroys lives and families of two or more persons. Lot of drama goes on around relations like these, all of which maynot have a tragical end, but surely they create a great commotion in the lives of people involved.

So natural human tendencies have vast scope to limit the worth of a human being and falsify the entire human society.  It is this very sinful nature Jesus came to address or remove and He successfully completed that on the cross. It is upto you, upto us whether we believe and make your/our life a channel of blessing, or reject it and be the same human being forever.
